BAM!

WHACK!

KAPOW!

Is it a bird?  Is it a plane?  No!  It’s My Sister is a Superhero!

While some sisters roll in carts, ride their sleds or glide on scooters, the Superhero Sister races rockets round the stars.  Not only that, she punches robots in the nose, bench presses burly trolls and, of course, wears undies over tights.

My Sister is a Superhero is the third book in Damon Young’s series of hilarious rhyming stories that celebrate the diversity, following on from My Nanna is a Ninja and My Pop is a Pirate.  It has been such a joy to illustrate these stories that are packed with humour, rhyme and rhythm, and a range of wacky and proud characters that defy family stereotypes.

My favourite page to illustrate was the page in which Superhero Sister gobbles everything she can.  I asked my daughters to make a list of every type of food they wanted to see on picture, and I happily obliged.

As with the other books in the series, the ending is beautiful, too.

So grab your sister (or someone’s sister) and have a read!
