Mr Darcy the Dancing Duck
Written by Alex Field

Mr Darcy is back! The very proud, very polite and very handsome little duck stars in a brand new tale and, this time, he must overcome his fear of dancing (I know how he feels). As Spring arrives, it seems every animal in the countryside has caught the dancing bug… except poor Mr Darcy. He can certainly waddle but any attempt to dance leaves him flat on his bottom. Luckily, his friends Bingley, Caroline and Maria the mouse are there to help, so Mr Darcy can join in the fun and, most importantly, charm Lizzie and her sisters once again.
This is another beautiful story written by Alex Field, the author of Mr Darcy, inspired by Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice, which celebrates 200 years of publication this year (not a bad effort!). Once again, it was a lot of fun drawing these animal characters and dressing them up in top hats, bows and ties. And there’s something wonderful about putting a little pair of spectacles on an animal. I feel it’s a habit I may fall into again and again.
Illustrations in watercolour and ink.
